Grab Bag

Here's a grab bag of walking stuff. It could be weird and wonderful or just a bit of fun.

Walking molecules

Let's start off with the walking molecule. You can watch it waddle along here  at a University of California, Riverside (UCR) site, or read about it in a UCR news release. The molecule not only walks, but now  it's been made to carry packages. Researchers are now working on building a "molecular ratchet" of about one nanometer. " A nanometer is one billionth of a meter. A nanometer is to a meter what an inch is to 15,783 miles, more than half the distance around the Earth’s equator." That's one small step for a human, but one large one for a molecule, especially if you're loaded down with packages.
